In this lesson, we introduce what is called the Patristic Period of church history – a branch of historical and theological study that focuses primarily upon the most prominent writings of the pastors and theologians of the Church from the end of the Apostolic period until the beginning of the Medieval period. This period begins with the Apostolic Fathers, those who shepherded the church during the years right after the time of the apostles. We focus our time in this opening lesson upon Clement of Rome.
