07/23/2023 – Adult Sunday Study – Tim Brown – Psalm 38 is one of the seven penitential psalms. Instead of naming his sin David asks God for help because of the terrible sickness, loneliness and isolation he is experiencing because of his sin. This psalm is a prayer to God evoked by the experience of sickness and the consequent sense of alienation from both God and man. David’s final prayer of the psalm found in verses 21-22 we see him asking God to not abandon him or be far from him in his sickness and God hears his prayer because God is his Savior.
