1/21/2024 – Galatians Bible Study – Tim Brown –Brief Summary of Lesson: Paul continues his opposition against Peter for his hypocrisy. Here we see God’s omnipotent, omniscient hand take the failure of Peter to stand firm on the truth of the Gospel and to use Peter’s failure as the launching pad into the great doctrine of justification by faith alone in Christ alone.
In this lesson we looked at many parallel passages of Scripture that defend this great doctrine. We also looked at the works of multiple commentators and examined their definitions of this great doctrine. We then summarized justification as “the good news that sinful men, sinful women can be brought into the acceptance of God, not because of their works, but simply through faith in Jesus Christ. The bottom line is sinners are declared righteous (justified) by God through faith in Christ, not by keeping the Law.
