The church in Pergamum resists persecution faithfully, yet Christ addresses a hidden danger in Revelation 2:12-17. He commends their faithfulness, confronts the compromise they tolerate, and commands repentance. He also comforts the conquerors among them. The passage reminds believers that faithful resistance outside the church must be matched by holiness within it.
